That's a pretty good idea. I have Audacity installed which I've used for other things, but it didn't occur to me to use it for this. Thanks! (But having the feature in Vinyl Studio would still be nice. :))

It's mentioned, briefly.  Also, the 'rollover' help in the program contains some useful information.

Anyway, glad you're up and running.

For surgery like this, I use Audacity,  It's free, and works quite well for cutting and pasting audio. In your case I'd just record the one bad track and paste it in, then re-import into VS and re-export the album.

Vinyl Studio has helpful documentation under Help -> Importing, Exporting and Converting files.

I FOUND IT!!  On the Record screen, in the "Wait for Needle Down" section, there is a setting labelled "Needle up timeout (sec)".  I set it to 45, and tested it with the next record flip.  Perfect!

I'm probably blind, but I don't see it referenced in the online help.

Technical Support / Re: How to Delete a Wav file ?

Thanks for the information given. I actually got into a right mess because I deleted tracks but found they were still there and I wasn't sure whether the system had deleted them or not. I then tried to delete from the list of tracks above and wondered if this would work.v When I went back to the various tracks that I had imported as a list, I found that the tracks are gone completely haywire and we're all jumbled upand also the spits in the track were all over the place! Clearly there is a way of deleting a track without causing so much chaos. I then read that if you use the Alt key when deleting that things stay pretty much static. I got in such a mess that I had to start all over again. I've even decided that it was best if I deleted the track before importing. This was a lesson learned.

Yes, thanks, I already "Record all sides as one file".  It really works very nicely -- BUT.  Here's the rub:

If I'm late dropping the side 2 needle (say I'm fiddling with turntable or something), and the sound starts coming in after the timeout expires, before I get back to click Record, I risk lopping off start of first track on side 2.  And there's no way to easily patch that in later.

I've looked and don't see any way to extend that timeout.  I'd rather it was at least twice as long, or didn't time out at all.

OK, thanks, I understand now.  The good news is that you don't need to watch that timer.  Instead, just let it time out (you might be off doing other things, perhaps) and then, when you're ready to record side 2, just click Record again and follow the prompts.

Another way to do things is to check the 'Record all sides as one file' box.  VinylStudio will then offer to *resume* recording when the end of the first album side is reached.  Both methods are equally viable, as per your personal preference.

Quote from: SunCityMikey on September 25, 2024, 10:10:08 PM... I'm digitizing old LP's (circa late 1950's - mid 1960's); some are even (gak) mono.

Hey, don't be too quick to dis mono ;-).  All the early Beatles stuff, e.g. were mixed and released in mono.  They didn't take stereo seriously back then.  I've heard that if you want to hear what they really sounded like, forget the trendy remixes.  Get the original mono releases.

I can only imagine that applies to other great artists from that time as well.

Sorry I'm being noisy, but just to confirm, are you saying if I uncheck an album previously recorded/saved as Mono, I can uncheck that option, resave the tracks, and they will be stereo now?

OK, this is weird.  I dug further, and discovered that the program Help Index does not find "mono" if you search for it, but the same apparently-identical Helpfile contents on the Alpinesoft website DOES find "mono" using the web browser search.

I can only guess that perhaps the software help index needs to be refreshed?
