General Discussion / Cut and Spice Feature
Last post by Indy33 - January 21, 2025, 01:32:37 AM
Some times when I do a Cut/Spice in the "Cleanup Audio" window it will tell me that I have a selection that is too short. Could VS ask if I want to expand the present selection to the minimum time. If I say yes then it expand the selection equally from the center of my selection???

That way I don't have to try guessing by dragging the edges of the selection to expand the time frame so VS does not complain. Maybe it could be an option that automatically does this without asking.

Cheers!

One example is this (my copy looks very similar).

https://www.discogs.com/release/2537991-Unknown-Artist-2001

The catalogue number is 3002 and when searching in VS it doesn't come up in the top 200. I had to do as Andy Morris suggested and search on Discogs website.

If when entering the catalogue number in VS you could choose a year range or have a single box where in this instance I could have put 2001 that would search both artist and title (as often I have no idea if what is written on the records is the track title or artist). I guess being able to refine to "Electronic" genre would help also.

I ripping today so will post another example when it comes up.

Thanks, Rob

@robxbl69, can you give me an example of a couple of catalog numbers that generate too many hits please?  The Discogs API supports more options than I thought and I want to experiment.  Thanks.

I've been using the Rolls VP29. Its very basic but does exactly what I need it to do and I think it sounds great. I'm using it along side a Korg DS-DAC 10R so I can record inside VS using DSD and its been solid. No issues at all.

Quote from: Paul Sanders (AlpineSoft) on November 28, 2024, 11:32:29 PMDSD is a non-editable format, which is why the box is greyed out.  AudioGate cheats.  If you tell it to apply equalisation, it converts to PCM and back again.  A better bet is to purchase a proper phono preamp.

That and Audiogate just sucks. Its fine for playback but recording is completely useless.
