Mix down to mono

I've only recently bought Vinyl Studio so this may be a newbie mistake, but on at least two occasions now, "Mix down to mono" has become selected and remained as the default option until I spotted it. I've never knowingly selected it - is it picking it up for the discogs tracklist info? I've worked backwards through my entries and reset the ones I've found to stereo (apart from the very few which should be mono) but I'm concerned I may have missed some. Is there an easy way to check all 200 or so albums I've done to see which are mono?

I'm working on a Microsoft Surface running Windows 10.

There isn't, no, sorry.  But the way this gets set initially is via a checkbox in the Record window when creating the album, so ensure that that isn't checked and you should be OK for future albums.

Thanks, I'll watch out for that. Once set, it does seem to persist as the default setting for all subsequent recordings - could I suggest that be undone in a future release? Though by then Ill have digitised them all anyway ;-)

I would strongly urge you to enable the user to set reset the default setting to "stereo".   I saved one song as mono, and now I must uncheck "mono" every time I want to save an album in stereo.  [Perhaps, I've missed an option for defining the default.]  Please tell me how I can avoid inadvertently recording in mono.

Hi,

Just uncheck it when you next record an album.  That resets the default.  Also, it resets (to stereo) if you stop and restart the program (because people were often forgetting and leaving it on by mistake).

This "mix down to mono" thing seems to have bitten me as well. 

When recording old mono records, I try to remember to click that little "mix down to mono" box.  The catch is that sticks!  If I then record a stereo LP and forget to unclick it, I can easily go through several LPs before I notice it check. 

Could I suggest that the Record window have the "Mono" shown clearly? 

FWIW, it's not listed in Recording Options either (at least not when recording), and the Help document doesn't seem to mention "mono" anywhere at all.  Takes a bit of digging to find.

Worthy points, but you can always uncheck it later in the Edit Album Details dialog.  It doesn't affect recording in any way, only saving.

OK, this is weird.  I dug further, and discovered that the program Help Index does not find "mono" if you search for it, but the same apparently-identical Helpfile contents on the Alpinesoft website DOES find "mono" using the web browser search. 

I can only guess that perhaps the software help index needs to be refreshed?
