Album Status Backup

I made several changes to the album status, but when I had to revert to an earlier image of the C Drive I lost those changes.

My question is where does this file reside and what is it called so I can backup this file?

Hi,

The information is stored in the .mcf file representing your collection.

There's a section in the VinylStudio Help file entitled 'Where are my Files Located' (under 'Importing and Exporting Files') which should help you locate this, and you can open the folder that contains it from VinylStudio's Settings dialog (Menu -> Options -> Settings, then go up one folder).

Yes, I read that help file a few days ago. Let me explain in more detail.

I have saved many images of the C-Drive of my local computer named "MusicServer" along the way while installing and configuring Windows 10. To get my RME ADI2 Pro FSR working again I had to return to an earlier image. I only restored an image of the C-Drive.

At the very top of the Settings window is the path below. This is an old location on the Game computer from many months ago. This path cannot be changed. See graphic below.

\\GAME\VinylStudioMusic\Second_Collection

Immediately below the "Your Saved Tracks Will Be Stored In
Folder" MusicServer(E:\VinylStudioMusic\My Collection) is another path that is shown below. This goes to an empty folder. This path cannot be changed. See graphic below.

MusicServer E:\VinylStudioMusic\My Collection\Second_Collection

I have obviously made several mistakes along the way. How do I get all these paths to agree with this path MusicSrever"E:\VinylStudioMusic\My Collection" shown in graphic below.

Well, firstly I would not recommend storing your 'raw' recordings (aka your collection) in the same folder as your saved tracks, but I'll leave you to sort that one out.

So:

1.  To open an existing collection, select 'Open Collection' from VinylStudio's File menu, and then navigate to the .mcf file representing that collection.  Please note that the recordings themselves are stored in a sub-folder bearing the same name as the .mcf file, but without the extension.

2.  To change the folder where VinylStudio stores your saved tracks, click on the 'Change' button in the Settings dialog.

Hopefully, that will sort you out.

I followed your steps 1 and 2, this restored all my changes to the album status.

But why did this all change when I only re-imaged the C-Drive?

OK, I got the Collection and Save Tracks moved into different folders.


Which folder does the "vsfiles" folder go?

Another question. Why do I have files in my Collection folder that are not an audio file or a CRD file that don't relate to my music file or CRD fil, but some do relate like "Dire".

Not sure, but those two fields are stored in the Registry if that helps with your detective work

It's a sub-folder of the folder containing your recordings, but don't worry about that - VinylStudio will regenerate those files as and when it needs them.

IDK, but VinylStudio didn't put them there.  It's probably safe to delete them - VinylStudio certainly won't care.
