Technical Support / Re: Turntable recommendations ...

I had 32gig ram in the machine so I doubt the glitches were due to a ram issue.  I think processing power or some windows sound vs. KORG driver issue, or maybe even USB bandwidth issue.
Does seem like most- or all - of these issues could be avoided when proprietary driver is not needed.

For example, this is a brand new ADC, with digital phono EQ built in, and review was awesome:

Paul,

8.  VinylStudio will then copy the file across the network, resulting in a copy on the processing PC (which is what you want).[/url]

Step 7b
I like to set the option to combine multiple files into ONE file It's directly under the option to "Copy files to recording folder". This makes for a very large file, but it's never been a problem Windows 10.

It just seems easier to keep track of my albums in the recording folder this way.

Respectively I've had a different experience.

I'm not having a problem with it eating up ram, the most I saw just now while recording DSD1128 was 146 MB.

I can't say for sure I've had Firefox open in the past 3 years while recording, but I've not noticed any skips.

Also on Windows 10 and 32MB ram and I7-8 core. It's running  my surveillance  software "Blue Iris" 24/7. After a reboot I have 202 processes running.

How much ram is yours using and number of processes?

The DAC does make excellent DSD rips and the headphone amp sounds fine also.  Just wish the proprietary KORG windows drivers were less of a hog.
If I had to do it again, I would buy and external ADC like the musicians use for recording...

Thanks Paul. My issue is that I'm not changing that setting between recordings, it seems to be a random thing. Let me do some more observation to get you better details.

Hi,

If you look in the Lookup Track Listings dialog, you will see there is a box labelled 'Auto adjust track breaks'.

If you check it then VinylStudio will attempt to position the track break markers at breaks in the music.  If you don't, it won't.

Quote from: Careyw on August 24, 2025, 10:59:57 AMI've only seen a couple of devices like the NAD (Thorens make one, as do Rega). Any others people are aware of and recommend? Any reason why the ADC function in the many USB audio devices out there, is not a good option? Thanks!

I'm using a Korg DS-DAC-R and getting good results. It will record up DSD128. It has it's own software for recording, but it's not exactly easy tp use until you get it figured out. Probably just use VS instead.

It has a headphone out on the front with a separate volume control. If you want speaker then you will have to hook up an amp for that. What I like about this is the headphone volume can be controlled separate from the speaker volume. It sells for $330 on Amazon.

If you really want to go high end then the RME ADI-2/4 Pro SE can be used for a cost of $1999.
