Post by: Boreal on October 24, 2013, 01:41:16 PM
Hi - Newbie here.

What is WASAPI and when should it be used. I am running one computer with Win XP, the other Win 8.1.

Hi,

On Vista and later (it's not available on XP) it's the preferred way for an application to talk to your sound card.  It allows the application to set the sample rate and bit depth that the card is running at rather than relying on Windows' default settings.

If it doesn't work (and sometimes it doesn't), than the thing to do is to set the desired sample rate and bit depth in the Sound section of the Control panel, as well as ion VinylStudio.  Tedious but effective.
