Hi. I've been using Vinyl Studio for years although definitely not a power user. I use it to rip LP's to high res digital. I've done a few hundred albums. Suddenly today. when I do the album lookup it goes to Discogs and shows me the matches but when I click to see the artwork I get an error message. I'm visually impaired an it's hard to make out the message.... I've rebooted, insure I have internet connectivity (have to since it's finding the matches). Any thoughts? Thanks
I am also having this problem today with Discogs. The error message is:
"SSL_Connect to i.discogs.com failed, error 336151568 (error:14094410:SSL routines:ssl3_read_bytes:sslv3 alert handshake failure)"[/size]
I think it's an error on Discogs end as I have had temporary errors like this before.
I will try again tomorrow...
Same problem here. Retrieve's track information fine but no Art Work. (Music Brainz works fine)
We will look into this, initially by contacting Discogs to see what has changed. Updates will be posted here. In the meantime, please use Music Brainz to retrieve album art.
Thanks. I'm a big classic listener and Musicbrainz is very limited, including the one I'm working on now. Hope Discogs gets things sorted out. Ironically the LP I ripped and discovered the issue on was purchase from them.
You can still use discogs album art by finding the release on their website and dragging the artwork into VinylStudio by opening Album Details / Album Art Tab.
I also use Tagscanner to insert artwork into each track.

Music Brainz seems to be very limited in albums in database: Robin Trower Live (1975) not there for example. I do have alternate ways of getting art files (dBpoweramp is one)

It will be. We now know the cause so we can move forward.
As someone was kind enough to instruct me, there's a fairly easy workaround in the interim. Just go to discogs, find the album cover art, save the image and then go to album and artwork in the VinylStudio. Click the art tab, select the image you downloaded, apply, and you've got it. Not as easy but at least it's done and you can keep using it.
I use dBpoweramp, right click to edit tags, and it can come up with a few dozen pieces of artwork to choose from - many just the album cover in different sizes. But it won't save art in a directory, just embed the tags
What's taking so long? CATraxx had this problem and they fixed quickly even though the program isn't sold anymore and the only thing they support is keeping up with changes in the ability to download from sites like Discogs.

Discogs error persists, and now can't connect to music brainz at all. Error message :

Music Brainz is working for me. It was probably a transient error.
We will have a fix for the Discogs problem soon.
I'm not usually a glass half full kind of guy (I typically think mine has a leak) but one positive thing for me with the Discogs issue is that I've learned how to do it manually and import them. It takes longer and usually I would prefer doing it the way we're accustomed to but sometimes on those albums where it's difficult to tell which one of 47 versions matches your tracks, going out to Discogs can be faster than downloading each track listing to see how it matches what you have. Whew. That's all the upbeat I can do for one day....
Still unable to get album art through Vinylstudio. J river media center resolved the issue months ago. What's the hold up?
The issue "For anyone interested in this, I found the cause. Discogs has evidently moved its images server to CloudFlare and they (understandably) require the hostname to be set in the TLS handshake extensions.
If you are using OpenSSL in your client, you can achieve that with the following line of code:
SSL_set_tlsext_host_name (ssl, hostname);
where ssl is an SSL * instance created via SSL_new.

I've kept recordings on hold for like two months already waiting for this...

I agree that an estimate of timeline is desirable but do keep in mind that you can still get cover art in the interim. It takes a little longer but another user told me how to do it, which you will see above. I've done at least 25 recordings since I started this inquiry, all completed with cover art. Not arguing with your desire, just wanting to make sure you're aware of the work around. Best.

The point is I specifically bought this app solely for the purpose of using one source to get all of album meta data.
I do have the album art downloader app, and I use Izotope Rx7 (have been buying licenses since Rx5) for recording, and use foobar2000 for meta data editing.
It feels rather unfair that I would still keep doing things the old way when I paid for a license to break free of how I worked in the past.
But I do understand you anyways.

In my opinion, a quick patch to fix the discogs issue will be truly welcome, and the new version can take as long as needed before it comes out.
It starts to become somehow annoying that this fix can only be available in the new version.

It is all starting to sound like a big white lie to me, in my opinion...
There hasn't been any published info about which bugs are actually getting fixed or any new features to expect.
Maybe the information exists somewhere, but I have not seen it, so I doubt anything of such is really happening...
What value is there in new features anyway, when the most interesting feature is broken and has not been fixed in more than 5 months?
Following this trend, any bug in the so called new features, if there is anything as such is going to possibly take more than a year to fix...

It HAS been much too long for this fix. I am a bit more optimistic that they will eventually get it done, history shows a constant slow stream of improvements in response to customer requests.

Using V12.0.0 on a Mac. I have retrieved album artwork from discogs and imported it, but when save tracks the artwork is not saved with them.

This is a known bug in V12.0.0. Please upgrade to V12.0.1 and the problem should go away. You can get it via VinylStudio -> Menubar -> Help -> Check for Update, or from our download page:

Then save your tracks again.
Please note: if you purchased from the Mac App store then the same update is available there and that's the one you should use.
I've just updated to V12.0.1 and artwork has been saved to all tracks apart from the first.
OK, can you try forcing VinylStudio to resave your tracks please? To do this, check the 'Always save tracks, even if saved before' box when saving.
Also, what platform are you on, just in case we need to dig into this. And what file format are you saving in. Thanks.

I just tried this and everything seems fine here.
It may be that VinylStudio is not adding that track to your iTunes library because it's already in there (with, presumably, missing artwork), so please try deleting the album from iTunes and saving your tracks again. (I'm assuming here that you're using iTunes as your music player. If not, please advise.)
To speed things up, you can uncheck 'Always save tracks, even if saved before' now. You don't need that anymore.
I don't use iTunes, but have rebooted the computer and looked at the files again. All tracks have artwork embedded.

I have the files on a NAS. I have two Raspberry Pi systems accessing them; on one I use Volumio and on the other I use MoOde.

Happy to see that the issue has been resolved regarding the handshake with Discogs, for both artwork and meta data for track listings. I'm in my 7th year of product use and the artwork handshake was not a big issue but the track listing was so the resolution is welcome. So far have ripped over 4,000 lps into mainly 192/24 FLAC files, product works great.

I prefer records but having them on a NAS and my home network is convenient. Also can play them in the car, on the DAP and share music with friends. Great product.
