Before it burns a CD, VinylStudio performs what is known as an OPC (Optimum Power Calibration) check. What it is doing is writing a test pattern to a reserved area of the CD and then reading it back to see if the data written to the CD is readable. If it cannot do this successfully, it declines to proceed.
You can disable this feature in the CD Burning Options dialog but we would advise against it as the discs you produce are likely to be unreadable (or, at best, problematic). Instead, try a different brand of media and / or clean the lens of your CD drive (using a special cleaning disc, which you should be able to buy on the high street).
