"Who Are You" stops recording during quiet passage

Newbie here. 

Just downloaded the trial version and testing with "Who are You". 

Everything seems to be proceeding as normal until the quiet passage of the song hits and the recording stops.

I tried playing with the "Scan" settings, but I think I've made it worse.

PhonoPre => Motu M4 (line in/out) => M1 based MacBook Air

I should note that when I'm checking levels with this setup, the levels are extremely low.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Try increasing the 'Needle up timeout' setting (although the real problem is the low recording level).

I upped the gain as much as possible without clipping the Motu.  Still seeing max signal of about 55% in VinylStudio.  But that creates some hum.

Adding the gain did allow the rip to complete.

More experimentation ahead.
