In browsing through my iTunes library, I sometimes find sound files with pops and clicks or hiss, etc., either because I digitized them before I got VinylStudio or for some other reason. These have already been saved as MP3 or AAC, the original AIFF files discarded.
How does re-running a compressed sound file through VinylStudio work? I know some data is thrown away when a file is compressed. Is it something like JPEG, where a little bit of quality is thrown away each time a file is opened, edited and resaved? De-popping or de-hissing is a major change, so I'm sure the sound file has to be recompressed all over again.
I have tried it and didn't really find that the sound deteriorated noticeably, at least to my untutored ears (and low-end equipment).
