recordings suddenly started sounding weird

still unsolved, im using audacity that works for my vinyl rips, and no i dont own a mac M4, it is an mac air M1 2020

OK, thanks for the info.  There will be a new version out soon with an alternative recording method you can try (Host -> Core Audio, rather than AUHAL).
