Title: CD won't play
Post by: pbrissett on March 19, 2014, 12:35:45 AM
First project with VinylStudio. Recorded one side/one track of an LP as a .wav file, but it won't play in my Technics player. Can't guess what I've done wrong—and I realize there are numerous possibilties. Can anyone suggest the most likely?

Hi,

Not all players will play CDs burned on a computer, because these are less reflective than pressed commercial CDs.

See if you can get hold of some 74 minute / 650 MB blanks as opposed to the more common 80 minute / 720 MB variety.  These have wider tracks and tend to be compatible with a wider range of players.  Try also cleaning the lens of your CD burner  and player (you can get lens cleaning discs from Amazon) and perhaps a different brand of blank media.

PS: Check also that you are burning an audio CD and not an MP3 CD.

Thank you, Paul. I'll try to find some of the smaller disks. I DID make sure I recorded an audio CD, and the player is a pretty good Technics, so maybe the wider track will solve the problem.
