Title: File Names
Post by: PMDMN on November 21, 2010, 01:53:11 PM
Hiho -

I'm using the trial version of VinylStudio, think it's great, and plan on purchasing. My question involves file naming options.

I've previously used dbpoweramp to rip my existing compact discs and have an extensive library in place.  I've used the following naming convention:

Artist/Album Title/Track Number/Song Title

I play these files through a Squeezebox Touch with the Squeezebox Server.

I've reviewed the drop down options in VinylStudio's Settings and can't find this precise option.  I made some test recordings using this option:

Album Artist/Album Title/Track Number/Track Artist/Track Title

A difficulty arises when I use this naming convention.  I'm able to upload and play the files through the Squeezebox Touch without difficulty.  However, the various indexing and sorting functions in the Squeezebox Server don't locate them in the same way as my cd transfers and I have to hunt around a little bit more to find the vinyl recordings.

Is there an obvious solution to this problem that I've missed?  Thanks for any assistance.

Hi,

You can use a file naming scheme of your choice by typing in the box.  You're not limited to what appears in the dropdown.  In your case, try entering:

[Album Artist] / [Album Title] / [Track Number] / [Track Title]

HTH.

Thank you very much for the quick response - I frequently overlook the obvious.

I'll take the time to plug what I now think is my new cheap and cheerful set up for creating high quality digital recordings of my vinyl:

Turntable>Rega Phono Mini ($85.00 used )>Cakewalk UA-1G ($99.00)>SimpleVinyl ($29.95).

Test recordings to flac at 96/24 sound great.  Cheers.

Setup sounds fine to me.  Enjoy!
