It would be great to be able to be recording a new album, while running de-click, etc on a previously recorded album, with being able to switch audio monitoring between the new recording and the clean-up of older recording.

You can already do all that. After you start recording, go to (say) the Cleanup Audio window and select the album you want to work on from the dropdown list.
