Yesterday I got the popup that a new version had been put out. It surprised me that no beta had come prior to this version 14, but I went along and download it and installed it.
No problem recording in DSD. But, when I opened the file to split songs, the waveform was not accurate with what was playing, the separators suddenly were out of place.
I regenerated the waveform display, but nothing changed. Then I started listening the whole file and there were parts missing!!! songs that started a few minutes in. Or without endings. AS if some kind of index with all the samples was broken.
I then opened up an old recording that i knew had no problems, but the same happened.
I uninstalled and tried downloading an older version but couldn't find one. So I reinstalled v14. The same situation repeated.
Is there something wrong with this version for DSD files?
Is there a way to got back to v13.x ?
Hi,
Sorry about this. Please leave it with us, I will take a look tomorrow.
Ok. Thanks Paul. It seems in lots of files that after 45 min, everything goes kaboom! LOL.
IS there a way to get a previous version?
Ditto. The exact same thing is happening to me.
Paul - I sent a tech email through saying the same thing.
V13 installers:
https://www.alpinesoft.co.uk/VinylStudio/backups/V13_15_16/VSInstall.exe (Windows)
https://www.alpinesoft.co.uk/VinylStudio/backups/V13_15_16/VinylStudio-Installer.pkg (Mac)
In both cases, uninstall V14 (or delete it from your Applications folder) before you reinstall.
**IMPORTANT** Your 'Premium' key won't work with VinylStudio 13, so if you upgraded, please re-register VinylStudio with your previous key.

Apologies for the hassle, we will look into this today.
My problem with the new v.14 is that when I play the music files previously saved with V.13 (and they can be played with other software) the only sound output is crackle (no music), I have reinstalled V.13 and all seems OK.
@Mostropovich Can you contact us via our website please to sort this out:

OK, no need, we know the cause now and will fix it.

"Kaboom?" - what means this? Please advise, both of you

LOL. What I meant was that mostly by the end of each recording was where I saw most differences and cuts. But in fact is that the waveform somehow formed incorrectly (always shorter) and lost sync with the audio.
OK, please to send screenshot(s):

Thanks. I will try the amended version once you've done the fix.
:)
Sorry but sundays I'm not around.
I have to reinstall v14 to send you the screenshots, so give me a few hours.
Now back to v13, the one from the links above, I had a problem that might be or might not be related:
1. recorded DSD - PERFECT
2. saved tracks as DSD - PERFECT
3. saved tracks as WAV or FLAC - tracks 1,2,3 are about 7 min average, ALL OK. track 4 is 20 min in lenght and there is no way that is saved ok. Always came up al mixed up. Unlistenable. Tracks 5, 6, etc, all started past their markings.
I tried using just 1 thread to save, but didn't change the outcome.
Hmmm. Is this with version 13?
Yes. it was with version 13. The one posted above.
Today, I got the popup for v14.1, and I went ahead and installed it.
Recorded an LP in DSD. Checked the track breaks. All good so far.
Hit Save. Tracks 1,2,3,4 (side A) all good.... but Side B..... as you can see in the screenshot attached, says no track break defined, but they are!!!
So, uninstalled V14, and went back again to v13. Hit Save tracks.... and everything Ok. Side A and B were correctly saved.
OK, TU, will investigate. Need to put out a new version anyway, I dropped the ball :(
Hmmm, that works for me. You did install V14.0.1 right? (You can check in the 'About' box).
The updated release resolved the issue for me. All is as it should be! Thanks, Paul, for your usual attention to detail and awesome support.
Best,
Thomas
Thanks, sorry for the misfires.
Peeps, you need V14.0.3, now out.
I installed it today as you can see in the attachment.
But sadly I recorded a new double LP, four songs, and the first two were saved Ok, the other two were not recognized.
Yes, we have had a number of reports, we'll get on it.
Can I have that screenshot without the progress window obscuring what's behind it please? Thx.
Forget that, fixed it. This will be fixed in V14.0.4. We will be releasing this shortly, probably (initially) as a Beta.
OK, we're on the track of this now. V14.0.4 (which might initially be a Beta) will fix all this. Thanks for hanging on in there, guys, and sorry for the bugs.
We'll check it out when you say it's ready.
Thanks to you Paul for being there and quickly fixing things!!
Thanks Nestor. V14 includes a fairly substantial revision to some of the internals (to get the speed ups), so a few teething troubles are not unexpected.
Also having problems with 14.0.3 and DSD. I see there are problems with DSD, and 14.0.4 is supposed to fix that. Seems like my problem is a bit different though, so here it is.
Have been using 13.1.6 to record DSD64 without issue. This is on an M1 iMac running Sonoma 14.4. Input is from a PSAudio NuWave.
Saw the upgrade notice for 14.0.3, so installed without checking here first. DSD seemed to record fine, but when stopping to record the next side VS complained in a dialog box about the DSF file being an unrecognized file. Went to Split Tracks and there was no wave form at all.
Uninstalled 14.0.3, and then reinstalled 13.1.6 and all is well. Sorry but did not screen shot the dialog before uninstalling 14.0.3.
Hi,
I'll run some tests here but is this repeatable please?
Hmm. It happened with 13 also. For both 14 and 13 it was an album that I was attempting to re-record, and for which I had deleted the prior DSF files. But I had not gone to Cleanup Audio to clear out the expected files.
After detecting something else was going on besides the suspected bug with 14, I did remove the file entries under Cleanup Audio. Haven't had a problem with 13 since.
I will reinstall 14 and see if that was the issue. I expect that it is, so 14 is probably going to be fine for me. I will report back.
Everything is not ok with 14.0.3 for me. For an album not previously recorded, it seemed to record fine as DSD64. Track split data had been loaded fine from discogs. As is usually the case I went in to Split Tracks to tweak and trim the split points. That seemed to go fine as usual. Then onto to Save Tracks and the first six tracks saved fine, but VS had a problem with the remaining 4 tracks complaining in an error dialog that track breaks had not been defined for tracks 7-10 (even though they clearly were). VS 14.0.3 would not save the last four tracks. (tried to post screen shots but it's not letting me paste them or upload them to this message).
Reinstalled 13.1.6. Didn't do anything other than go straight to Save Tracks, and all tracks saved fine.
No worries, we know what is causing this and will fix it in the next release V14.0.4). This will be out shortly.
Hello - I just downloaded and installed 14.0.4. I can't attest to whether my inability to save has been fixed, because the timeline issue (which I think was resolved in 14.0.3) is back. That's where the wave form in the timeline, does not match what I'm actually hearing from the timeline (same issue as previously reported). I'll email the screen cap
Yes. just as Sidnancee says, the issues are back. just like version 14.0.
Just recorded an Lp. and even though side one has full waveform drawn, at aprox. 15 min. when playing, the program freezes and stops all audio.
Side two shows all blank, as if it wasn't evene recorded. Obviously all attemps to start playing after the fist 15 min, do nothing.
Sorry guys, will fix
Fixed, 30th March 2024. We've released it as a Beta:

Sorry for the hassle, all.
i can finally save all tracks with the new 14.0.5 Beta 1 version, thanks for all the hard work.
i did notice though, that after saving the tracks the filters get cleared/reset now, this was certainly not the behavior in previous versions, hope it was just an oversight and not the new default.
OK, we'll look into that (seems odd, I can't think of a reason)

Sorry for the hassle, all.
Sorry but still having problems.
Recorded 3 LPs today. Inserted track breaks. Listened. Everything OK so far.
When I saved the first two LPs, 4 songs on each side on both of them, the last song of each side was.... empty!
In the third record, the first song OK. Second song cut out at 75% of it's total time.... the rest of the songs: empty!
By empty, I mean nothing could be heard. Files had content but couldn't be played.
I was able to listen to them OK in the original VS recording, but not the saved files.
Went back to V13. Saved them again. Noted slight differences in file sizes. And this time the songs were good.
So sorry, we will fix this. I was in a big rush this morning and didn't have time to test the software fully. Please leave it with me and I'll try to release another Beta tomorrow (Sunday)

Hi,
I can't reproduce this problem. Can you take me through the steps you went through please? We must be doing different things. Thanks.

1. set the filter looking for status: (no status), Newly Added, Recorded, Track Split and Cleaned
2. Save tracks, while saving, the filter is still applied and show only albums that have not been saved.
3. once its done saving files, but before closing the window showing the summary of the actions taken (XX tracks saved in X seconds...), the filter is reset and all albums are shown
OK Basilo, this is a bug.
The *intended* behaviour (and V14.0.5 Beta 3 will fix this) is that, *if the filter includes 'Tracks Saved'*, then filtering is left enabled. If not, the album would 'disappear', so filtering is cleared.
We will also include the number of status values you can filter on from 5 to 10.
