Host AUHAL or Core Audio?

Hey!! I digitize my lp's with the ADI-2/4 Pro SE and MacBook Pro. I noticed options for the Host AUHAL or Core Audio in the Check Level section. The setting has always been AUHAL and is working properly I believe. I'm just wondering what the differences are?

It doesn't make a lot of difference to be honest.  If AUHAL is working, I would stick with it.
