VinylStudio V7.5 has been released with support for many more file formats. VinylStudio now supports: WAV, MP3, FLAC, OGG and WMA. On the Mac, it also supports AIFF, AAC, Apple Lossless and CAF (but not WMA). Flac and Apple Lossless support is particularly interesting as it cuts file sizes by about 40% with no loss of sound quality. Given the large size of audio files, this can save a lot of disk space.
We have also added a number of other new features, many of them suggested by users:
- 'Batch' file conversions (e.g. WAV -> FLAC).
- VinylStudio can now import mono files. Once imported, they are treated as stereo.
- New 'mix down to mono' feature when saving tracks.
- Finer-grained control of track markers (1/10th sec -> 1/ 100th).
- You can now normalise in steps of 1dB.
- You can now play audio at reduced speed to track down those hard-to-find clicks.
- New 'peak recording level' display when recording.
- You can now delete just selected recordings, rather than having to delete all of them.
- If you have a trackball mouse, a tilting scrollwheel or a trackpad ith sideways scrolling capabilities you can now use this to pan the waveform display.
- Import a track listing from a file.
- Drag and drop artwork from your desktop or most web browsers into VinylStudio.
- Following some user feedback, we have reduced the size of the toolbar icons slightly.
- A few bug fixes and a few tweaks.
Upgrades for existing users are free.
