Title: Can you mask "skips?"
Post by: BobinGA on January 02, 2011, 05:55:56 PM
So far I'm loving Vinyl Studio - very intuitive!  The latest album I'm working on has one stubborn skip that I can't get out with cleaning.  I tried patching this, but there is still a skip in the resulting version.  Any recommendations?

Hi,

Sorry, not really.  Cut-and-Splice often works the best; try to remove an entire bar (or sequence of bars) and try experimenting with the splice length.  To adjust the edges of a cut, undo the cut (Ctrl+Z or, on the Mac, Cmd+Z), drag the edges of the selection and then repeat the cut (X).  It's fiddly to get it right though and you can always hear something.

VinylStudio has no cut-and-paste facility.  If you want to try pasting something from the surrounding music over the skip you will have to use something like Audacity, but even then you will almost certainly still be able to hear it.
