Title: How to Add 2nd Album of Same Name
Post by: Indy33 on July 16, 2025, 02:26:30 AM
I have a second version of Heat now, Dreamboat Anne. Mofi 45 rpm and the original from 1976. When I try to add the Mofi version ....... I get the following message. I'm using album ID from Discogs. [r34276588]. Th original album does not have Discogs ID reference.

Album Heart - Dreamboat Annie already exists.

You can look up a track listing for it in the Split Tracks window.

Hi,

VinylStudio doesn't allow two albums with the same title and artist.  I suggest something like 'Dreamboat Annie (Mofi)' to disambiguate them.

I'm still not having any luck. I've changed the name to "Dreamboat Anne (Mofi), bu VS still does not like my choice.

Hi,

I believe you need to change it in the 'Create Album' dialog, rather than this one.

Paul,

I believe that's what I'm doing. I start with the "Create Album" shown below and I use the Discogs ID normally.

OK, we'll look into it.  In the meantime, please try the following:

1.  Rename Dreamboat Annie (to Dreamboat Annie renamed, say).

2.  Add your second album (as Dreamboat Annie).

3.  Once you've done that, rename it to Dreamboat Annie (Mofi).

4.  Rename Dreamboat Annie renamed back to Dreamboat Annie.

That should at least keep you moving.
