Title: stopped recording ... possible to continue?
Post by: cannieman on April 26, 2022, 07:27:04 PM
I was recording side 3 and the needle skated audibly over the start of the song
I panicked and hit the stop button, oops...

It is possible to start recording again? Continue? Sorry for the noob question. Thanks!

Were you recording each side as a separate file?  If so, you can just re-record side 3 - select it from the dropdown and then hit Record in the usual way.

If not, uncheck 'Record all sides as one file' and then re-record side 3 as what VinylStudio will regard as side 2 (and so on, if there are any more sides to record).  With some recording formats, you can subsequently delete any unwanted audio at the end of the first recorded file by using 'Truncate recording at cursor' in the Cleanup Audio window.  There's no undo for that though, so take your time and make sure you get it right.  And if you can't use that, you can get rid of it using cut-and-splice, or by manipulating the track break markers appropriately.

Finally, if you do go for cut-and-splice, please be aware that there's a bug in V12.5.2 that affects the use of this.  This is, however, fixed in the latest Beta, so please grab a copy of that:
