Title: Enable Equalization?
Post by: metal4ever on August 18, 2023, 02:23:40 PM
Hey, I have recorded a few vinyl albums and noticed that the Enable Equalization box was checked with the "FLAT" option. My question is , do I need to Enable Equalization Box checked with a phono preamp?

Hi,

No you don't, the preamp will do it, so you should uncheck the box.  But no great harm has been done as 'flat' means 'flat'.

That box is for people with (very!) high-end 'flat' phono preamps or when recording 78s or other pre-1954 material.  I won't go into that here, but if you'd like to now the ins and outs of it then please post a new question focussed on just that.

OK, thanks...so my albums I recorded using the "flat" option in Vinyl Studio are ok?

Should be.  There will have been a little unnecessary processing of the audio as it was being recorded, but I doubt you can hear it.  To check, just compare one of your recordings with the disc itself.
